52. What are the minimum hardware / software specifications required to install and run EzeScan?

EzeScan PC / Server specifications can change depending on your scanning requirements. A PC for scanning large volumes of colour will differ to a PC for mainly black & white scanning or KFI indexing. Please feel free to contact us if you require more assistance with sourcing your EzeScan PC hardware.

Please note: EzeScan can be configured to work on Windows 32 bit or Windows 64 bit operating systems. 

On Windows 32 bit operating systems, Ezescan will utilise 32 bit TWAIN scanner drivers. Those drivers can use USB or fire wire connected scanners.

On Windows 64 bit operating systems, Ezescan will still utilise 32 bit TWAIN drivers. In our experience 32 bit TWAIN scanner drivers for USB connected scanners function okay on a Windows 64 bit operating system. It’s the Microsoft 64 bit to 32 bit USB driver translation layer that allows the scanner to work as expected.  However during our testing we found that 32 bit TWAIN scanner drivers utilizing fire wire cabling will not work on Windows 64 bit operating systems.

EzeScan PRO

Below is a minimum specification for high volume black & white and low volume colour scanning. (i.e. less than 50 x A4 200 dpi colour pages or 33 x A4 300 dpi colour pages)

• Intel™ Core 2 Duo 2.83 GHz E8300 or AMD equivalent processor
• 3GB Ram 
• 120GB HDD
• 1000 Mbps Ethernet (for network scanners or to store to EDRMS / network repositories)
• A video controller with at least 256MB RAM
• Monitor supporting at least 1024 x 768 pixel resolution
• Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP with Service Pack 3, or Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008
• USB or SCSI connection for scanner (USB 2.0 strongly recommended)
• A TWAIN-compliant scanner (please refer to our supported scanner list)

Below is a minimum specification for high volume colour scanning. (i.e. more than 50 x A4 200 dpi colour pages or 33 x A4 300 dpi colour pages).

• Intel™ Core i7 3.06 GHz i7-950 or AMD equivalent processor
• 4GB Ram 
• 300GB, 10000 RPM SATA HDD
• 1000 Mbps Ethernet (for network scanners or to store to EDRMS / network repositories)
• A video controller with at least 512MB RAM
• Monitor supporting at least 1600 x 1280 pixel resolution
• Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP with Service Pack 3, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008
• USB or SCSI connection for scanner (USB 2.0 strongly recommended)
• A TWAIN-compliant scanner (please refer to our supported scanner list)

EzeScan SERVER

Below is a minimum specification for an EzeScan Server (Routing).

• 1 Intel™ Quad Core 2.26 GHz E5520 or AMD equivalent processor
• 4GB Ram 
• 300GB HDD
• 1000 Mbps Ethernet (for network scanners or to store to EDRMS / network repositories)
• A video controller with at least 64MB RAM
• Monitor supporting at least 1024 x 768 pixel resolution
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Server 2008

Note: This is for a single instance to service 10 MFD's. It is highly recommend that the server is dedicated only for EzeScan processing.
